The national security advisor states the assistance for Moscow will include drones.
White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said the U.S. believes the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia with hundreds of drones to help Russia with its ongoing assault against Ukraine.
“Our information indicates that the Iranian government is preparing to provide Russia up to several hundred UAVs [unmanned aerial vehicles], including weapons-capable UAVs, on an expedited timeline,” Advisor Sullivan said during a briefing.
He said that the Iranians are preparing to train Russian forces to use unmanned aerial vehicles as early as this month. It is unclear if any have been delivered to the Russians already. The national security adviser disclosed the information to exhibit the difficulty Russia is experiencing in sustaining its own weapons stockpile as Russia’s war in Ukraine nears its sixth month.
The Kremlin says that Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Iran next week for a trilateral meeting with the leaders of Iran and Turkey, ostensibly to discuss Syria. President Putin’s visit to Iran will follow U.S. President Joe Biden’s trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia this week, where Iran’s nuclear program and malign activities in the region will be a key subject of discussion.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the national security advisor to be led by the Lord in analyzing intelligence data.
- For the president to receive and attend to godly counsel.
- For wisdom for U.S. officials as they monitor the war in Ukraine.
